One of our expanding group of
open-edition giclee prints, "Tuscan Artichokes" from
Four Winds Art (FWA) is a dramatic rendering of the Italian artichoke.
Summer staple of both northern and southern regions of Italy,
the artichoke can be as enchanting to look upon as to eat: hence,
FWA's first "artichoke picture." With its contrast of
light and shadow (imperfectly captured in this e-photo), "Tuscan
Artichokes" looks smashing on a wall. Great in kitchens,
this giclee print also lends itself beautifully to other rooms
of the house.
Inspired by photographs in a cookbook of Northern Italian cuisine,
artist (and chef extraordinaire) Dan Edwards cut a bouquet of
huge artichokes from the family garden to serve as models for
an artichoke painting (a.k.a., artichoke picture). These
he placed against his yellow house to gain the contrast and shadows
he wanted. The original watercolor, 21 x 18 inches framed, hangs
in a private collection in the Pacific Northwest (USA). FWA's
giclee artichoke prints, although somewhat smaller than the original,
are equally as striking.
To try out "Tuscan Artichokes" in your own home, take
advantage of FWA's two-week trial. If at any time during
that period you find your artichokes don't work for you, simply
return the print for a refund of the purchase price.
